G35-M30 Tethered Power System is designed for DJI Matrice 30 and Matrice 30T, providing 24h or more of safe and reliable long‑endurance flight power. It addresses the limitations of short battery life, rapid power drain with heavy payloads, and frequent battery swaps, making it ideal for long‑duration missions or high‑power payloads.
The system consists of a ground‑based tether box and an onboard power supply. The integrated tether box incorporates AC/DC conversion, tether cable, automatic winding mechanism, servo motor, communication modules, cooling system, and control management. The lightweight DC/DC onboard converter steps down 850V high voltage to the low voltage required by the drone and its payloads, providing stable, regulated, and safe power.
With 850V high‑voltage transmission, the tether cable is thinner, lighter, and has lower wind resistance, reducing the load on the drone’s propulsion system. The new AI‑driven speed and torque control supports up to 5m/s cable retraction/extraction, quick ascent/descent, and emergency stops – without cable snagging, jitter, or abrupt tugs. This enables truly automatic, contactless, and operator‑free cable management. Multi‑device connectivity is supported via the onboard interface, mobile app, PC, and drone remote controller.
The Matrice 30 series tethered drone, with its built‑in gimbal camera, can carry payloads such as floodlights, searchlights, loudspeakers, communication relays, and optical display units, enabling long‑endurance aerial video, area monitoring, high‑power illumination, searchlighting, public address, relay communication, and warning/display functions.

Q1: Can I touch the tether cable after HV is energized?
No. The operating manual clearly states that no operation on the tether system is required during the entire flight. The cable carries high voltage; although insulated and rated for 3500VDC, in wet conditions or with wear/damage, there is a risk of high‑voltage exposure.
Q2: Can I turn on the tether box HV before starting the drone?
No. The drone performs a self‑check at startup and requires battery power and data communication. Energizing HV first only supplies power but no battery data, which may cause self‑check errors. Correct sequence: Start remote controller → Start drone, wait for self‑check → Apply AC to tether box → Enable HV → Take off.
Q3: Do I need to constantly monitor the tether box display during flight?
No. The operator should focus on the drone mission. Just keep an eye on the voltage reading on the remote controller screen; as long as it stays above 25V, the system is supplying power normally. If voltage drops below 25V or an alarm sounds, land the drone first and then investigate.
Q4: The tether box display voltage fluctuates significantly and won't stabilize – what to do?
Land the drone and check battery level or external power supply. Possible causes: a) Drone battery low – the tether supply must power the drone, payload, and charge the battery simultaneously, triggering overload protection; b) External power supply insufficient – causing input undervoltage protection.
Q5: The remote controller shows "Battery contact error – return to land" or "Battery power insufficient" – what should I do?
This is normal and can be ignored. Since both drone and payload are powered by the tether system, the drone detects no battery output during flight. Ensure the battery latches are secure, and no action is required.
Q6: The remote shows "Strong wind – fly with caution" even in calm conditions – how to handle?
If there is no wind or only light wind, check whether the drone is overloaded or the cable tension is set too high.
Q7: If the actual operating height is much lower than the cable length (e.g., 110m cable but only 30m height), do I need to pull out all the cable first?
No. You can periodically (about every 1 hour) ascend to a higher altitude to let the cable passively extend for cooling, hover for ~1 minute, then return to the working height.
Q8: Why can't I turn on the floodlight when the drone is on the ground?
The floodlight has no active cooling and relies on propeller airflow for heat dissipation. The firmware prevents the light from turning on below a certain altitude and automatically turns it off after landing. Therefore, it cannot be switched on while the drone is on the ground.
